Powertool Brands

Who really owns that new brand you just found in the  home superstore?  New brands seem to pop up all the time, but they can't all be brand new companies, can they?  Of course not. What about that brand your Dad bought?  Is it still the same company it used to be?  Is it still American even?

Many companies field multiple brands.  They might have a Professional line and a Consumer line, or maybe they manufacturer tools to be sold under a third party brand (think Craftsman).

Here is what I have figured out so far.

Bosch
Skil
The company was founded in 1924, acquired by Emerson Electric in 1979, then acquired by Bosch in 1996.

Available in the US inthe late 80's.  I bought an AEG reciprocating saw then.  They apparently left for a while, and were just reintroduced to the American market again in 2011.
